This partnership developed and implemented a modularized entrepreneurship certificate program designed to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of Namibian small- and medium-size business owners. Community Colleges for International Development (CCID) and the Polytechnic of Namibia (PON) created a program to enable the PON to train its business and information technology students in entrepreneurial theory and practice. PON Business and Information Technology (IT) faculty visited Hinds Community College and other CCID member institutions, developed entrepreneurship modules, and adapted U.S. approaches to entrepreneurship education for the Namibian context.
U.S. faculty with expertise in curriculum development and entrepreneurship assisted with curriculum design, classroom delivery modes, and assessment tools. Among the anticipated long-term results were strengthened PON entrepreneurship programs, an increased number of PON graduates successfully running their own businesses, and deeper ties between the PON and the business community.
