This partnership strengthened the Addis Ababa University’s (AAU) undergraduate curriculum in social work and helped established the first-ever master’s degree in social work in Ethiopia. In April 2004, the Faculty Senate formally approved the undergraduate curriculum in social work developed by partners. The graduate program established at AAU provided a new School of Social Work. Partners appointed an Advisory Committee whose members will participate in the long-term development of social work education at AAU.
In conjunction with two workshops for NGO leaders hosted by the Christian Relief and Development Association, an umbrella organization of 280 NGOs in Ethiopia, partners fielded three surveys designed to assess community interest in a graduate degree in social work and to obtain input on the structure and the content of the new program. The new graduate degree program started in September 2004.
