These involve issues of gender and race/ethnicity in the contemporary United States, as well as on the history, experiences and cultural products of immigrant and minority communities. Partnership activities include: (1) a survey of American and American Arab Studies curriculum and courses at Al-Quds and the University of Michigan-Dearborn and other institutions; (2) short term faculty exchanges that will lead to an ongoing visiting scholars program; (3) collaborative curriculum development for undergraduate and graduate American Studies courses; (4) intensive two-week institutes for younger scholars focusing on innovative pedagogical methods; and (5) student exchanges between the two institutions.
