University of Michigan and the International Academy of Business in Kazakhstan are partnering to strengthen and further develop the Marketing Education and Research Center (MERC) that will foster economic development and increased competitiveness of Kazakhstan businesses.  The Center will provide continuing education to local businesses in cutting edge theories and techniques in marketing practices to meet the marketing demands of a globally competitive market.  The partnership will support the business community by providing training to skilled workers, market information and networking opportunities for small micro-enterprises and NGO’s.  It is expected that MERC will sustain after project funding through revenues generated by their state-of-the-art programs, and will eventually be a financial and management model for other potential centers in the region.
